During the first CircleMED Future Lab, in Turin on the 25 June 2025, a group of citizens from the Metropolitan Area of Turin were invited to participate in a collaborative workshop on circular economy.
The session was introduced by a short introduction to circular economy, and to its most well-known aspects, but the participants were engaged to “go beyond what knew, and what they thought they knew, about circular economy” and to re-think its principles and the practice, thanks to the game “eRRRando”.
The game is developed entirely by entities active in Turin: Mercato Circolare Srl Società Benefit, together with Brixel, in the context of an initiative developed to support circular economy.
The game aims recollecting to mind at all the words starting with “R” which are connected to circular economy, and ordering them from the initial one – in terms of action to be taken towards the circular economy process – to the last one.
The results of the game were surprising, as some of the “R”s, and they order, came unespected for most participants. Starting from “Refusing” the current standards and “Rethinking” the way we approach consuming and “Reducing” any kind of potential waste, through all the actions and practices we can activate towards products and our own behaviours, leaving last “Recycling” and “Recuperating” (energetically), as these are the last resorts of circular economy.
Playing together proved a way not only to re-think together the participants’ behaviour, but also to exchange ideas, challenge the current practices and learn from others, and to address potential structural lacks in opportunities for circular economy for the citizens.
